Pets for Life

  • Created for our UXG1500 – Introduction to Digital Design project, Pets For Life is a game about the struggles of taking care of a pet while working from home.

In this game, you must manage feeding your pet, cleaning up after it and completing work tasks all at the same time. If you ignore your pet for too long, it will get mad and destroy one of the 3 nearby furniture. If it destroys all 3 furniture, it’s game over.

To win the game, you simply need to manage the game for 1minute with at least 1 furniture left in-tact.

  • For this project, I took on the responsibility of being the Producer. This meant that I was in-charge of the production schedule and content creation pipeline.

Being the most technically-proficient and having prior experience with Unity game engine, I had also set up a technical framework for the other team members to work on for a smoother and easier integration of content and mechanics.

Reflections

First group game-dev project in Digipen! Woot! Lots of fun coming up with a simple game mechanic and animations that go with it.

Learnt that cute sells!

Learnt how little polish details like colour correction, lighting, animations, transitions, sound effects and wobble bobble effects all come together to give great game feel to a product.
